DENGUE: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
WHAT IS IT?
Dengue is a viral infection. Many infected people have no symptoms, but others develop high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, and skin rash.
HOW IS IT SPREAD?
The virus is transmitted to people through the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes, mainly Aedes aegypti. It is not spread directly from person to person through casual contact.
WARNING SIGNS – SEEK CARE IMMEDIATELY
Severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding from the gums or nose, and extreme tiredness or restlessness, especially when the fever starts to go down.
